Description

The properties of the BaF2 scintillator, particularly its very short decay time and high radiation resistance, make it extremely attractive for many applications in nuclear physics. Experimental data on the energy and time resolution of BaF2 scintillators are given and the applicability of wavelength shifters is discussed. The applications of BaF2 scintillation detectors as gamma-ray spectrometers, electromagnetic calorimeters, as well as telescopes for gamma-rays and charged particle identification are shown.
