Description
Laser ion source (LIS) injectors followed by a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator are being developed at several institutes for accelerator or industrial applications. We have demonstrated the feasibility of a direct injection method using an existing, not optimized, RFQ at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT). A new RFQ and LIS chamber were just constructed that were optimized for at least 100 mA total C4+ current. Using this system we obtained more than 40 mA of Carbon beam from the system. (author)
