High time resolution and high output current photomultiplier

Description

A series is developed containing three modified photoelectric multipliers with a nanosecond time resolution and a gain factor of 103-109. Modifications of an anode compartment and metal-glass flask are described in detail. These reduce lead inductance and ensure a high coefficient of final stage secondary emission. The photoelectric multipliers employ semitransparent Sb-Cs photocathodes. A photomultiplier with O-Ag-Cs photocathode is designed so as to extend a spectral sensitivity range up to 1,300 mm. Described are structural features as well as parameters of photoelectric multipliers for subnanosecond measurements elaborated on the basis of a multiplier system with acclerating grids
