Meningioangiomatosis

Meningioangiomatosis is widely regarded as a hamartomatous malformation of the meninges with involvement of the underlying cortex.' It is an uncommon condition that presents either as seizures when sporadic or as part of neurofibromatosis, where it is generally asymptomatic. Importantly, in its sporadic form it is a surgically curable cause of epilepsy. A single case is presented here in whom the diagnosis was not made preoperatively, perhaps due to absence of classic imaging features. The aetiology, pathology and imaging features of meningioangiomatosis are reviewed as well as the pathological corollary of the current case. Copyright (1999) Blackwell Science Pty Ltd
