Polymerization of pure ethyl acrylate initiated by X-rays

  • 1. Ankara Nuklear Arastirma Merkezi (Turkey)

Description

Samples of ethyl polyacrylate obtained during a study of the kinetics of pure ethyl acrylate copolymerization initiated by X-rays were studied viscosimetrically with a view to determining the dependence of the limiting viscosity index (eta) on the intensity of the radiation to which the polymers were subjected during preparation. It is known that the degree of polymerization is inversely proportional to the square root of the radiation intensity. On the basis of this, an attempt was made to establish a parallel relationship between the mean viscosimetric degree of polymerization and the radiation intensity and to examine the validity of that relationship
