Enrichment of deuterium from methane using a TEA CO2 laser
Description
Irradiating the mixture of methane and bromine with 9.6 μm R (22) line of a TEA CO2 laser, we excited CH2D2 selectively and increased the rate of the bromination reaction of CH2D2 so that deuterium was enriched. The reaction mixture consisted of 30 Torr CH4, 30 Torr CH2D2 and 10 Torr Br2. The enrichment factor was 1.48
