Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of solvated and adsorbed thalium (I)-205

  • 1. Institutul de Tehnologie Izotopica si Moleculara, Cluj-Napoca (Romania)

Description

Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of the solvated thallium (I)-205 ion are reviewed and compared with the authors, data obtained for the adsorbed state. Unusually large effects are found for the NMR parameters (chemical shift and nuclear relaxation) by modifying the environmental conditions such as: the nature of the solvent, the presence of molecular oxygen, the contact with an adsorbing surface. This sensitivity makes possible the use of thallium ion as an ideal probe in examining interactions in the liquid phase and interfacial phenomena. (author)
