Crystal structure of Fe-doped LaGaO3-δ

Description

Crystal structures of Fe-doped LaGaO3-δ were studied with neutron and high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction measurements. It was found that Fe doping on LaGaO3-δ raises the phase transition temperature from orthorhombic to trigonal phases. For these phases, all lattice parameters monotonically increase with increasing Fe content. This means that the electronic configuration of Fe3+ is a t2g3eg2 (high-spin state) with ionic radius (r=0.645 A), which is larger than that of Ga3+ (r=0.620A)
