Casimir stress in a solid ball with permittivity and permeability

  • 1. Luftkrigsskolen, N-7000 Trondheim, Norway

Description

The zero-point (Casimir) stress is calculated for a solid ball with permittivity epsilon and permeability μ, satisfying epsilonμ = 1. The stress is found to be repulsive, finite, and cutoff independent. The model discussed is of interest also for QCD bag theory
