Non-perturbative effects in the SU(3)-gluon plasma

  • 1. Institut fuer Theoretische Physik der Universitaet, Frankfurt (Germany)

Description

The authors investigate lattice data for the thermodynamical functions of the SU(3) pure gauge theory and propose a phenomenological equation of state which is able to reproduce these data. Their results suggest that even at high temperatures only gluons with large momenta are deconfined, while gluons with small momenta cluster into glueball states. Therefore, the gluon plasma is not an ideal gas of gluons, but rather a open-quotes gluon-clusterclose quotes plasma
