Diagnostic for intense focused proton beams using the 11B (p,α)2α reaction

Description

A new diagnostic method for intense focused proton beams is described. The measurement is made by detecting α particles which are emitted simultaneously from 11B( p,α)2α nuclear reactions in a baron nitride target. This diagnostic can be used at high current densities without the complication of flux attenuators
