Description

Rats and rabbits were whole-body irradiated with X-rays at a dose of 100 to 750 R. At daily intervals samples of blood were taken and kept in heparin. After addition of 32P phosphate they were incubated for 35 minutes at 37 degC in vitro. The incorporation in the erythrocytes decreased significantly for doses of 250 to 500 R. The maximum response was obtained between the 6th and 14th day. The method may be applied for the examination of the state of the organism irradiated with a dose of X-radiation higher than 250 R. The specificity of the method is discussed. (author)
