Ancient rocks of the Earth

Description

Isotope data on the ancient rocks of the Earth crust, obtained as a result of isotope-geochronological studies, carried out lately, are presented. Ultrabasic-basic composition of the ancient crust is confirmed by istope-geochemical and geochronological investigations. The earliest intrusions of tonalite composition are 3.65+-0.05 milliard years old. Later, granite-greenstone and granulite-gneissic regions were formed. The earliest global epoch of metamorphism originated 3.0-2.8 milliard years ago. The data presented are based on the study of isotope ratios 87Sr/86Sr, 143Nd/144Nd, Rb/Sr, Sm/Nd, U/Pb, 40Ar/39Ar, etc
