Recent development in chemistry research and chemical techniques based on research reactor

  • 1. International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna (Austria)

Description

Chemistry and chemical techniques have occupied an important role in research associated with research reactors, and will continuously be important in reactor-based research and development. The article is intended to give a basic thought in the development of reactor-based chemistry research and chemical techniques, through the review of recent topics in the following fields: (1) Reactor as a service tool: Isotope production and activation analysis (2) Reactor as a research tool: Fission chemistry, hot atom chemistry and radiation chemistry (3) Special devices: Neutron converters, radiation converters, in-pile γ loops and reactor pulse. A brief description is given to the role of special reactors such as pulsed reactors and high flux reactors, and to the future direction of research. (author)
