Non specular reflection of neutrons by interface roughness

Description

A off-specular coherent scattering from multilayer neutron mirrors was measured for different interface roughness. Measurements of off-specular coherent scattering intensity were performed with 12.6 A -neutron reflectometer at the JRR-3M reactor, JAERI. The measured data for the rough sample agreed well with the calculation. The agreement implied that roughness between layers correlated and correlation function obeyed Gaussian in the rough multilayer. (Y. Kazumata)
