Vaginal cylinder as brachytherapy in the management of P.O. cervix cases
Description
Vaginal Cylinder is designed to treat all post operative cases of cancer Cervix (P.O) and stump cervix using Teflon material (Density.97gm/cc). Vaginal Cylinder of different diameter (1.8 cm, 2.0 cm, 2.5 cm) are fabricated. The length of cylinder is kept only 13 cm. In the center of Teflon cylindrical rod a hole of 6 mm diameter is drilled up to 12 cm of length of rod.The front end of rod is shaped to finesemi circular (penis shaped). The straight source applicator can easily fixed in center of cylinder. A small rectangular holder is fixed to other end of cylinder at desired length so that it will hold cylinder at 90 degree fixed to body. Once cylinder is in position inside body two or three sources will be used. The dose rate at surface of applicator for two or three sources is given below. Normally dose 2000-2500 cgy is only prescribed to vagina wall. Dose rate is perfectly uniform. There is no rectum and bladder reaction in any 40 cases completed. Patients are doing good since one and half year with no reoccurrence. The dose is calculated from user hand book of BARC manual after loading applicator
