Determination of attenuation coefficient and build-up factor using measurement bench

Description

This article describes fundamental experimental efforts performed with the special measurement bench which was assembled at the Brno University of Technology. The bench allows determination of attenuation coefficient and build-up factor of various materials using several sources of gamma radiation. Data obtained during experiments with samples of copper, lead and concrete were compared with calculation results provided by Monte Carlo codes such as MCNP and SCALE. (authors)
