Neutron capture by 208Pb at stellar temperatures
Creators
- 1. Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Description
Neutron capture cross section data for isotopically enriched 208Pb were taken at the Oak Ridge electron linear accelerator time-of-flight facility and analyzed for nuclear resonance capture parameters up to 825 keV. Two new capture resonances at energies (43.29 and 47.26 keV) near stellar interior temperatures were found. The resonance parameter data lead to improved values for 208Pb neutron capture probabilities calculated for a wide range of stellar interior temperatures
