Report on radiation situation in the Slovak Republic in 2009

  • 1. Slovak Health University, Bratislava (Slovakia)
  • 2. Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, Bratislava (Slovakia)

Description

The report summarizes results obtained by systematic environmental radioactivity monitoring across the Slovak Republic. The first part of the report describes the structure and tasks of the Slovak Radiation Monitoring Network (RMN), both its headquarters and field working teams. Data presented include radionuclide concentrations in environmental samples and gamma dose rates and photon dose equivalent rates H*(10) in ground atmosphere layers as measured by the monitoring teams in accordance with the RMN plan. The second part of the report contains data regarding effluents from Slovak nuclear power plants and radioactivity in the vicinity of the NPPs. It is concluded that no significant increase in radioactivity around the nuclear power plants occurred in 2009. Fluctuations observed within the radioactivity data processing stage are ascribed to the geological and topographic circumstances in the country. (orig.)
