Oxocations in aqueous solutions
Description
Stability and important properties of transition metal oxocations have been analyzed on the basis of literature data and model semiempirical calculations MO LCAO. It is shown that electrostatic potential of the central ion is the basic factor determining the number of oxygen atoms in stable oxocations. The dependence of the oxocations tendency towards hydrolysis and protonation on their electronic structure has been ascertained. 36 refs., 6 tabs
