Description

We report an experimental study of the surface properties of aluminosilicates by means of dielectric relaxation techniques. The interpretation of the experimental data yield crucial information about the cation distribution and energy at the surface of the material. These experimental methods were also used to investigate the effect of water adsorption on the surface of the aluminosilicates. We determined the evolution of the relaxation time of the system as a function of the pressure of water. We also calculated the energy of the cations localized at the zeolite surface for different hydration conditions. We show that dielectric relaxation spectroscopy allows a quantitative determination of the surface energy of ionic macroporous solids. (authors)
