The microstructure and mechanical properties of China low activation martensitic steel

Description

The China low activation martensitic (CLAM) steel is being developed as the candidate structural materials for fusion reactor. The chemical composition and heat-treatment of the CLAM steel were investigated in this paper, and the metallurgy properties, microstructure and mechanical properties of the CLAM steel were discussed. In addition, two ingots of the CLAM steel with silicon and yttrium have also been prepared to improve the mechanical properties. It was found that the strength of the CLAM steel was increased by silicon addition, and the ductility was good at the same time. Yttrium addition would facilitate to improve the ductility of the CLAM steel, but would decrease its strength. (authors)
