Description

Oxide varistors (with zinc oxide as the base) have been investigated for their stability under ionizing radiation. Mixed gamma-neutron radiation emitted by the 252Cf source (1 mg) was used. Characteristics were measured before irradiation, immediately after it and finally after 5 and 90 days. Varistors of different origin were compared, manufactured by General Electric, Siemens and the VUPM Sumperk. The last one, of the type VR 05 A has shown the negligible influence of radiation, under applied doses. (author)
