The requirements of ultrasonic NDT in nuclear power plant
Creators
- 1. Central Electricity Generating Board, Dartford (UK). Operational Engineering Div.
Description
The exacting requirements for ultrasonic NDT during planned maintenance in CEGB Magnox gas pressure circuits are described, highlighting the influence of defect sizing methods on the specification of ultrasonic equipment and probe manipulators. The design of manipulators and the need for care in the specification of equipment test methods are discussed. Several possible ways of echo amplitude data presentation are suggested as an aid to more effective defect response interpretation and sizing. (author)
