Microwave generation using coherent arrays of Josephson junctions

  • 1. State Univ. of New York, Stony Brook (USA). Dept. of Physics

Description

We have developed a reliable and effective scheme for biasing and coupling of a series of Josephson junctions to form a coherent array. This is conclusively demonstrated by our observations on the voltage locking and the power and linewidth of the radiation emitted from the arrays. These results strongly suggest that such arrays have potential as practical tunable microwave sources. (orig.)
