Plutonium contamination at specific areas of the Semipalatinsk test site
Description
The present work presents preliminary results of measurements of plutonium and other radioisotopes in the soil and vegetation samples taken at some specific areas of the Semipalatinsk test site. The sampling points were selected in a way to cover areas used for agricultural purposes, to obtain information on contamination levels of food products, and to evaluate public radiation doses. 238/239Pu concentrations in some of the samples are shown and its effect on a human body is discussed.
