Nuclear medicine and sonography as diagnostic methods in paediatrics

This book is intended to serve as an aid for the physician in determining the best suitable diagnostic method that, with the particular symptoms given, will provide the most efficient diagnosis in paediatric medicine at conditions least affecting the patient. The part of the book dealing with nuclear medicine discusses the various methods in detail, presenting a scheme according to which individual organs and suitable diagnostic methods are related to each other and investigated along the following intems: Indications, preparation of the patient, application of method, results obtained and their information value, case material, radiation dose. Fundamentals of physics of radiation biology, or technical information on equipment, are given as far as this contributes to a better understanding of the nuclear medical techniques and to the assessment of the radiation doses applied.
