Evaluation of monitoring activities for wind energy

The effects of the activities in the Netherlands, carried out to stimulate the growth of the wind energy industry, have been evaluated. First an inventory was made of all the parties involved and the monitoring activities. Four groups can be distinguished: the government, the operators or proprietors, the manufacturers, and others. The monitoring activities concern the quality and properties of wind turbines, as well as the costs and energy yield of the wind turbines. Next, interviews were held with representatives of the above-mentioned parties to assess the information demand and the willingness to provide data to others. Recommendations are formulated for the Netherlands Agency for Energy and the Environment (NOVEM). In the appendix of this report attention is paid to a method to calculate the kWh cost price of the electricity, generated by a wind turbine, without having to bring valuable data into the open. 3 tabs., 1 appendix
