Methods for the determination of three-dimensional formation permeability with field examples from in-situ uranium ore bodies

Description

In conventional methods of aquifer tests homogeneous and isotropic formations are assumed. In many instances, however, the aquifers are anisotropic. Two- and three-dimensional flow equations in homogeneous, anisotropic and leaky aquifers are derived. Procedures are outlined for determining three-dimensional permeability in homogeneous, anisotropic, leaky, or nonleaky aquifers. The field aquifer test data collected from five uranium properties in Wyoming and Texas was analyzed using the suggested type curve matching technique. Although hydraulic properties from different properties varied considerably, values obtained from different wells in any one property are in close agreement
