Description

Main properties are discussed of the stereochemistry of Mo(6) complex compounds containing distorted octahedral groups of MoO2X2L2 (L') type or MoO2L''2 type where X is the halogen atom, L is the neutral unidentate oxygen-, nitrogen-, or sulfur-donating ligand, L' is the neutral bidentate ligand, and L'' is the mono-negative bidentate ligand. The electronic and vibrational absorption spectra of these compounds were analyzed. Characteristic spectroscopic properties were assigned to the MoO2X2L2 (L') and MoO2L'' groups. It was shown that compounds containing MoO22+ cation can relatively well be characterized using the electronic and vibrational spectroscopy. (author)
