Description

Tetraaquabis(4-nitrobenzoato)Manganese(II) dihydrate, (Mn(H2O)4(4-nba)2).2H2O1 complex has been synthesized by reacting freshly precipitated MnCO3 obtained from the reaction of MnCl2.4H2O and the sodium carbonate, with 4-nitrobenzoic acid (4-nbaH) in water. The complex 1 is dehydrated to (Mn((4-nba)2) 2 on heating at 180°C and can be reversibly hydrated as evidenced by IR spectra and isothermal weight loss studies. The compounds are characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, X-ray powder pattern and thermal studies. Based on elemental analysis and gravimetric analysis of 4-nbaH, complexes were formulated. At 450°C, the compounds can be pyrolysed to cubic Mn2O3. (author)
