Large magneto resistance in the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy Ni54Fe19Ga27
- 1. Magnetic and Superconducting Materials Section, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)
Description
The effect of magnetic field on the martensitic transition and electrical resistance in both the austenite and martensite phases in a Ni54Fe19Ga27 alloy is reported. The magnetoresistance is found to be negative in this alloy, both in the austenite and martensite phases. However, in the phase transition regime the magnetoresistance registers a sharp positive peak. A magnetoresistance value as high as 7.5% is recorded at room temperature in 10 T magnetic field.
