141Ce source as mock standard for 99mTc

Description
An inexpensive 141Ce source has been developed in order to solve some difficulties associated with the use of 99mTc and 57Co as calibration standards of equipment used for monitoring of 99mTc. The gamma-ray energy of 141Ce is about the same as that of 99mTc. The beta-particles and X-rays also emitted by 141Ce can be eliminated by adequate shielding. Details of the source construction are presented. Results are given for 99mTc, 57Co and 141Ce sources measured on 59 radionuclide calibrators representing eight commercial manufactures. (orig.)
