Spatial resolution of linear array xenon ionization chamber x-ray detectors

  • 1. General Electric Corporate Research and Development, Schenectady, NY

Description

One of the most important characteristics of any imaging system is spatial resolution. This report describes a custom linear array Xenon ionization chamber detector developed by GE for sub-millimeter spatial resolution applications. The suitability of such a detector for high resolution digital imaging of turbine blades in both Digital Fluoroscopy and Computed Tomography modes is demonstrated. This report describes the measured spatial resolution characteristics of a digital X-ray Inspection Module developed for airfoil inspection by General Electric
