Electro- and chemical codepositions of finely dispersed MoS2 and ZrO2 with metals

  • 1. Tohoku Univ., Sendai (Japan). Faculty of Engineering

Description

Radio-tracer method was used to determine the amounts of co-deposited powder and adsorbates in test samples at the same time. The influence of the concentration of cationic additives, that promote the co-deposition of MoS2 and ZrO2, was studied by using an acidic nickel bath, an acidic copper bath and a basic zinc bath. The co-deposition amounts by chemical plating method were different from those by electroplating method. The radio-tracer method was carried out with an electron linear accelerator, and the induced activities were produced through the gamma-n reaction of Zr-90, Mo-100 and Rb-85. The obtained tracers were added in plating baths. The effect of electroplating conditions on the ZrO2 content of deposit, the influence of the surfactants in electrolytes on the MoS2 content of deposit, the effect of rubidium ions on Ni-ZrO2 electrodeposited composite coating, and Ni-ZrO2 and Cu-ZrO2 composite coatings by chemical plating were studied.
