Description
The imaging methods are dominated by USG, in which hydrometrocolpos appears as a sharply confined cystoid formation between the bladder and rectum, often with echogenic, stratified debris; fresh bleeding can sometimes to impress like a solid tissue, but in a Doppler image without signs of vascularisation. In order to clarify the orphological picture and also to show possible associated anomalies, it is sometimes advisable to add MRI, in indicated cases already prenatally in the form of fetal MRI; exceptionally, they may also apply other imaging methods, such as hysterosalpingography respectively sonohysterography.
