A model for single-phase counter-current natural-convection decay heat removal in CANDU

Description
In this paper the natural circulation flow regime is considered. In this flow regime, which may occur before the intermittent buoyancy induced flow regime is considered. In this flow regime, the coolant remains subcooled in a fuel channel assembly. This subcooled-coolant flow regime has not yet been investigated either experimentally or analytically. The objective of this paper is to present the formulation and development of a mathematical model that captures the important aspects of this heat removal mechanism and to promote discussion and further investigation of it and the related phenomena. The paper presents some results predicted by this model
