Sumpeak calibration of 123I

Description
The sumpeak method applied to the calibration of 123I is discussed. The decay scheme of 123I and the spectra for 123I, measured with a 60 x 60 mm NaI(Tl) crystal, as used in the calculations are shown. Necessary corrections are considered. The conclusion is that the sumpeak method for 123I is only useful in the case of high geometrical efficiency, i.e. inside the well of a NaI(Tl) detector. Thus, as is demonstrated, the method is even applicable to solutions and this is considered a clear advantage. (U.K.)
