Annual report of Laboratory of Nuclear Studies, Osaka University, for fiscal 1984

Description

In this report, the research activities by the groups in Laboratory of Nuclear Studies carried out in fiscal year 1984 are summarized. The facilities such as the variable energy cyclotron and the 5 MeV Van de Graaff accelerator were extensively used. Some experimental works on nuclear and particle physics were carried out using the facilities in national laboratories such as High Energy Physics Laboratory and the Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Osaka University. A group of the OULNS moved the major detector system for double beta decay to the Kamioka underground laboratory. The research project on the fundamental interaction was approved in fiscal year 1984 continuously from 1983. A medium size computer syster, FACOM 360R, was installed to be used for data analysis and calculation. The international collaboration projects at the BNL and LBL were continued. The activities of the Divisions of cyclotron, Van de Graaff, High Energy Physics, Accelerator Development and Nuclear Instrumentation, Mass Spectroscopy, Radiochemistry, Solid State Physics, Space Physics and Theoretical Physics are reported. The publications and papers presented are listed. (Kako, I.)
