Description
The frequencies of the longitudinal and transverse components of the infrared-active modes of hexamethylenetetramine-h12 and -d12 have been used to determine the static dielectric constant and the dipole moment derivatives, using the refractive index. The sodium-D refractive index and the static dielectric constant of HMT-d12 are the same as those of HMT-h12, within experimental error. The static dielectric constant is 2.67±0.05 and the atomic polarization is 2.8 ±0.7 cm3. The dipole moment derivatives are listed for seven of the nine infrared-active modes of each molecule.
