Application of a single probe method ('Radiokardioskop') in the cardiologic intensive medicine

  • 1. Humboldt-Universitaet, Berlin (German Democratic Republic). Bereich Medizin (Charite)

Description

Within the wide spectrum of methods of nuclear medicine in the cardiologic intensive medicine, a single probe method, as developed in the Clinic of Nuclear Medicine of the Charite Hospital, can play an important part. The determination of the global left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) by this method ('Radiokardioskop') is not going to subsitute other diagnostic procedures of intensive care, but the knowledge of LVEF is important for the evaluation of actual state, course and response to therapy of the left heart function. The practical application of the 'Radiokardioskop' is described. The clinical fields of use are demonstrated by the examples of intensive care after acute myocardial infarction, cardiac surgery and heart transplantation. (author)
