Nuclear g factors and structure of the 7- isomeric states in the isotopes 186/sup ,/188Os and 196/sup ,/198 Hg

Description
The method of differential and integral perturbed angular distributions has been used to measure the g factors of the 7- states in the isotopes 186/sup ,/188Os and 196/sup ,/198Hg. The results are as follows: g(186Os) = -0.032(20), g(188Os) = -0.025(15), g(196Hg) = -0.040(19), and g(198Hg) = -0.030(15). The small value and the negative sign of the g factors indicates that the quasiparticle structure of these states is determined mainly by the rotationally aligned i13/sub //2 neutron and a neutron with low j
