Gamma radiolysis of glucose and relative compounds: a spin-trapping study
Description
Gamma-induced radicals in polycrystalline α-D-glucose, 1-methyl α D glucose and maltose were trapped with a water-ethanol solution of 2-nitroso-2-methylpropane. Respectively 9, 7 and 9 long-lived nitroxide spin adducts were evidenced by combining electron spin resonance and high performance liquid chromatography experiments. A proposed mechanism from spin trapping assays is compared to the ones postulated from other ESR and radio-chemical studies
