A source storage and irradiator device for calibrating direct-reading pocket dosimeters
- 1. Aerospace Medical Div., Brooks AFB, TX (USA)
Description
To reduce personnel radiation exposure during the calibration of direct-reading pocket dosimeters, a cable operated irradiator device was developed for handling and storing a 9.76 mg radium needle. This device is located inside a hot cell which includes remotely operated manipulators. It offers excellent shielding, simple construction and operation with no exposure to personnel during calibration. (author)
