The j-dependence of (3He,d) and (3He,α) reaction analysing powers in the 1p shell

Description
The first measurements of polarization effects in 3He induced single-nucleon transfer reactions are presented for 9Be and 12C targets. Strong j-dependence of the analysing powers has been established in the (3He,α) reactions while the (3He,d) reaction data are less conclusive. A standard DWBA analysis predicts correctly the sign of the j-dependence and the magnitude of the analysing powers in the (3He,α) reaction and gives a satisfactory description of the 12C(3He,d)13Nsub(g.s.) data, provided that finite-range corrections are incorporated in the calculations. Estimates of separate j=1/2 and 3/2 transfer contributions are compared with theoretical predictions. (Auth.)
