Effect due to coaxial electric cables on X-ray spectra

Description
In the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, electric pulses are transferred through the concentric electric cables. Effects associated with signal disturbances due to the electric cables are measured. When a long cable is used, the pulse height is reduced, which causes a spectral shift to the lower energy side. When impedance matching is not achieved, pulses are reflected, which causes artificial peaks in the spectra. Spectral shifts depend on the pulse height analyzers (PHA) used. (author)

エネルギー分散型(EDX)蛍光X線分析では,電気パルス信号の波高分布からX線スペクトルを得るため,スペクトルは同軸ケーブルの影響を受けやすい.本研究では,同軸ケーブルのインピーダンスや長さがスペクトルに与える影響を調べた.ケーブルが長くなると,波高分析器(PHA)に依存したスペクトルのエネルギーシフトが生ずることがわかった.インピーダンスの不整合な部分での信号反射が,ケーブルを長くした場合には無視できなくなり,X線スペクトルの低エネルギー領域に偽ピークが出現する可能性がある.(著者)Additional details
