Projectile breakup of 7Li
Description
One of the basic processes seen in the nuclear reactions is the breakup or fragmentation of a projectile in the field of target nucleus. Over the past 20 years, study of breakup process by many groups include a variety of projectile target combinations, a wide range of beam energies and many different experimental conditions. The pronounced cluster structure of the loosely bound 6,7Li isotopes easily emphasize a reaction path like breakup. A knowledge of the reaction mechanism for the breakup of stable isotopes and the involved interplay of Coulomb and nuclear breakup mechanisms is helpful in understanding the features of the breakup of the more complex halo nuclei. Experimental data for the breakup of 48 MeV 7Li into α + t channel are analyzed in terms of the post form DWBA theory of elastic breakup process
