Thermodynamic stability domain of Li2CaThF8 (S) in Li-Ca-Th-F-O system for molten salt reactor

Description
The LiF-ThF4 system has been considered as reference fuel solvent for MSR, in which 7LiF salt is required to avoid tritium productions during the reactor operation. The focus of the study will be on LiF-CaF2-ThF4 system which is characterised with single quaternary compound, Li2CaThF8(s). In the present work, the stability domain of Li2CaThF8(s) has been calculated in two different ways. First one is the isothermal chemical potential diagram and the other one is fluorine potential diagram. Both the diagrams are calculated based on the experimental thermodynamic data and rest of the data were taken from literature
