Magnetic resonance imaging in lung cancer

Reasonable long-term survival in bronchogenic carcinoma can be expected only if complete resection is performed. Accurate preoperative staging is essential, and computed tomography is not always sufficient as staging investigation. The indications for magnetic resonance imaging in these patients are discussed and the use of this method in three patients is described. Magnetic resonance imaging should be used as a supplement to computed tomography in selected patients
