A preliminary study of economic assessment for nuclear plant life extension
Creators
- 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Komae, Tokyo (Japan). Komae Research Lab.
Description
A method for evaluating an economic aspect of nuclear plant life extension is presented, to study costs for repair and replacement of key components, such as steam generator (SG) and reactor pressure vessel (RPV) in PWR, and to derive a total generation cost for the extended plant life. The costs for repairing SG tube and replacing SG itself are taken into account. Corrective actions for RPV degradation are also considered. The analysis is performed on a spreadsheet of a personal computer. Power generation costs are compared for plant life extension and plant reconstruction cases. (author)
